You are partially correct in your first assumption in that the viewpoint was looking slightly downwards, although to be absolutely pedantic I was actually standing on a neolithic longbarrow. This is an image that was 5,000 years in the making, as first our ancestors built the earthwork, then English Heritage fenced it off and finally the farmer planted the rapeseed. Don't you just love it when everything comes together!
