PAD 317 - Tree Line

Day 317 and at this time of year the sun, when it is out, casts long shadows even in the middle of the day. This was taken close to St John's Church, West Wickham.

Impressive light and the elevated position helps to accentuate the tall trees. Did you blend 2 exposures as the sky has more range than I would expect with the sun casting those shadows.

Looks like the Clarkson approach to contrast boosting, to my eye at least!

Thanks for the comment. The church is on a hill which gave me the higher viewpoint.

Correct on both counts. I used th High Structure (Harsh) preset in Silver Efex Pro 2 to bring out the detais and then merged the mono layer with the colour one using luminosity mode. I think that the SEP2 Structure function does something fancy with mid-tone contrast where most of the detail in an image is captured. I quite like the effect, but I could consider a layer mask over the trees and grass and just leave the texture in the sky.
