Day 356 and I found this statue a while back in a local churchyard. That day I had another image which I preferred, but I was passing by this afternoon and stopped to take the shot.

EF 85 f/1.8 USM
1/200 sec
f/2
ISO 100

The shadows under her eyelids look like eyelashes, quite spooky as its more lifelike. Removing the background also focuses attention on her features, nice shot.

This looks familiar from somewhere but I'm not sure where. Had you not said you'd seen it earlier and passed over it I might have thought you'd used it earlier in the year!

Thanks, Paul. The statue is in quite an awkward position as there are other monuments close by, so getting a clean shot is not easy and the figure's downward glance does not help matters either. Shooting from below against the sky is one of the few options which I found would work.

Graveyard statuary is a common theme, so it is quite possible you have seen something similar elsewhere. I have taken one or two other churchyard shots throughout the year, but this is definitely the first time this particular location has featured.

I must admit I wondered if you had replaced the background with plain white in Ps perhaps.

It's much more easily achieved in camera. All I had to do was crouch. ;)
