Solves one problem, until you want to take the camera off. The backpack too, for that matter.

The strap I got from TPS has side release buckles* so the camera and backpack could be relatively easily separated, but the problem can be solved with the far simpler method of just putting the strap over the shoulder instead of around the neck.

*turns out that's the official name for those plastic three pronged clip things that backpacks/etc have.
