Flickr To Get a New Owner

Subject to regulatory approval, Flickr is going to be acquired by Verizon in its takeover of Yahoo.

Although it has been announced, the sale will not complete until early next year and it will take new owner Verizon a while to work out what it wants to do with Flickr. While it will want to get value out of it, it will not want to destroy what has made the site so successful. It will be a delicate balance. Change = risk, but it does not necessarily equate to bad. It never does any harm to see what the competition has to offer, but there is no need to jump ship just yet if you are happy with what is currently on offer.
