An innovative feature of the new Canon 5D Mk IV is a function to alter focus after capture. It's not like Lytro light field technology and as the Microadjust name suggests, only small alterations of the point of focus are possible. DPReview has run a test to see if it has any practical use.

Looks like a nice attempt that hasn't panned out, maybe in the future this might be more useful?

I agree that it is an ingenious secondary benefit of Canons dual pixel AF but suspect that it would need a radical sensor redesign to be made really effective. There might be other methods which would give better results. One such is Panasonic's Post Focus which takes multiple shots in rapid succession with different points of focus, although admittedly in some ways Canon's system is better as both images are taken simultaneously.
