PetaPixel has published pictures of what Canon's latest mirrorless camera could look like. For the first time it features, cue drumroll, an electronic viewfinder. OK, it is still a low end model and has an APS-C sensor, but this does look as though it could be the start of something.

The camera is now confirmed.

It looks as though Canon is taking a stealthy approach to mirrorless, gradually inytroducing new features albeit at snail's pace. Given that there are currently just seven lenses (mostly slow zooms) in the EF-M range, the camera will have limited appeal. It is unlikely that it will have much effect on DSLR sales, so the main question is when will critical mass be achieved and Canon's mirrorless offerings become mainstream?

Re: Is Canon Starting to Get Serious About Mirrorless?
A fairly typical article by Thom Hogan, rather tl:dr and more or less banging the same old drum. He does make two good points. Mirrorless will inevitably supersede DSLRs as manufacturing costs are lower. Plus, right at the end, he says that camera sales will only reverse their current decline when innovation solves a user problem.
