Following Ron's email last week, I successfully applied to attend the Canon Wedding Photography event at Penshurst Place, Penshurst Kent TN11 8DG with talks from Canon Ambassador Jeff Ascough & Professional Wedding Photographer Sarah Ascough that I am really looking forward to.
It looks like I am allowed to bring a guest that I have to register.
Has anyone else successfully applied and is attending this Canon Event that is driving there that I can catch a lift from?
Kind regards,
Iggy

Hi Nina,
There is a good service from East Croydon to stations around Penshurst Place.
I expect to go, possibly early to look round Penshurst Place.
See you tonight,
Iggy

Re: Canon Wedding Photography Event - 15 Nov 2016
I might be interested in this, but did not register because of other things which are happening around that time which might prevent me from going. If there is a spare guest place available which no one else wants, then I would like to take it. I will not know until the day whether I can go, but if I do I will be driving directly to Penshurst from Margate and will not be in a position to offer anyone a lift.

Hi Iggy and Mike
I can find someone to drive if you are interested. Where do you live? We may be able to pick you up somewhere convenient.
I am not sure whether I will be able to go to the club this evening.

Hi Nina,
Getting a car ride to Penshurst Place would be a great help.
I live in Norbury but am willing to travel to a convenient spot for pick up.
Nina, I guess your friend will be using your guest ticket that you need to register.
Mike, I could register you as my guest. There is Lunch & Tea. Any specific dietary requirements?
Best wishes,
Iggy

Hi Everyone!
I have also been offered a place on this event and would really like to share petrol if anyone fancies driving.

Re: Canon Wedding Photography Event - 15 Nov 2016
Attended the Canon Photography Event yesterday with Nina, Ros an Barry who kindly drove us there and back via a scenic, autumnal route.
Event was well organised with plenty of room for the 100 participants that were later divided into 3 groups for some of the events.
Jeff Ascough, Professional Wedding Photographer & Canon Ambassador, gave us his life story into photography and said how various photographers such as Tony Ray Jones and many other from that genre led him to reportage wedding photography in black and white. His wedding photography and that of his wife Sarah Ascough is nothing like that of his heroes tough. They are always searching for the light, some of which I liked and some of which I didn't. There were several with too many backs in search of a face or two in soft focus. But they are successful, so who am I to judge. Husband and wife in two different presentations showed us perhaps a 100 images each. As you might expect I did ask each a couple of questions. Jeff said that 300-350 images in raw took 8 hours or less to process in Light room, usually getting lighting sorted out, which is about 15 minutes an image. Sarah said that cameras were always set in aperture priority (usually F8 - F22) with auto ISO that led to grainy images on many an occasion.
The 40 minute photo shoot led by Jeff for our group of 35 was unfortunately just a straight shoot outside on a ledge where the light was particularly lovely on the cloudy day. It was a bit of a scramble where I had to push in to get 2 dozen shoots. More polite people got fewer.
There was a lot of Canon kit that one could loan for the shoot alone. I did not bother but Nina did loan a large camera body, a large lens and the only large tripod!
Catering, particularly the coronation chicken was good and done in groups of 35. Teas and coffee and cookies also available. Our CCC group had at least one large image printed during the final Q&A which we did not attend as I had already asked my questions earlier.
Great day out!
