Beetles & Huxley

Postby Steve B » Fri 16 Dec 2016, 20:46

I'm planning to shell out my £16 for the Elton John exhibition at the Tate Modern over Christmas, but there is a good free display of 29 of the most influential photographs in history at Beetles & Huxley - on Swallow Street, off Piccadilly. Images include Stieglitz's The Steerage (widely accepted to be the first modernist photograph) and Ansel Adams' Moonrise, Hernandez. It's the first time I've seen the latter in the flesh and I certainly appreciate it more for seeing the print.

Although entry is free, you'll need to pay tens of thousands to take some of the most famous prints home!

With only 29 prints maybe it's not worth a trip in its own right, but it would certainly make a welcome 20 min break from last-minute Christmas shopping. Please note the show closes on 23 December.
