For anyone who is interested in buying external storage to back up their files this also comes with an application that automates and manages the backing up of your files.

Please note it needs an Internet connection as the external drive is hosted in amazon data centres, its a one off payment for 1Tb of storage rather than a monthly subscription. The application will allow you to write to both a local drive as well as the Internet storage.

Thanks for the info, Frank. I have just availed myself of the storage offer. While I have everything backed up multiple times, my external drives are all in the house. Having my most important data and images in the Cloud provides an additional level of reassurance.
