Re: Nature Photography Session - Lloyd Park - 12 May 19
On a sunny Sunday morning yesterday, I was rather pleased to see Emmanuel Muscat and five other Croydon residents turn up for the Nature Photography Session.
The grass was rather damp and it was rather cool in the shadows.
The main flowers in bloom were buttercups and dandelion that don't seem to attract too many insects.
The few insect life were found warming up on the hedgerows.
We spent about half an hour trying to photographs the few bees, wasps and flies before giving up with Lloyd Park.
Best time to visit Lloyd Park is on a hot sunny afternoon in July when there is a good selection of wild flowers and hence insects feeding on nectar & pollen.

Hi Emmanuel,
Thank you for coming on the walk and sharing a few of your images.
Hope you enjoyed it.
Was that the only butterfly we saw?

After the disappointment of Lloyd Park, I took the inspired decision to cross the tram line and the main road and make our way to Coombe Woods!
Coombe Woods was a riot of colour. We were met with several beds of tulips, and although past their best were still beautiful.
We spent an hour exploring the interesting array of shrubs, with rhododendrons just coming into flower.
I didn't have the energy to go around chasing insects!
Will have to go there again.
