Found this critter in the shed and decided to bring him out for a little walk. Apparently its a "Daddy Long Legs" spider. Used some white card which allowed me to move him around quick enough to get a heads on view. Taken with my Sigma 105mm macro and +1 EC.

Eek!

Good shot and a lot of detail, especially on the head. I did wonder if the shadows from the legs confuse things a bit. Might be one of those instances where less is more?

A little bit of a shock seeing this appear on flickr but my innate curiosity about macro shots of critters and the execution wins the day

He was in shadows initially but was getting blur as I was shooting one-handed and moving the card with the other hand. Once in the sunlight I could stop down more and get more detail on those hairy legs. Even the slightest breeze was causing problems, such is macro work.

Been meaning to combine my new hobby of fish keeping with my existing hobby and here is the result.

My local fish shop gave me an unused tank and it took around 50 attempts of dunking my head in the water to get the effect I wanted whilst moving around the single flash I have. The fish were shot from my tank the day before and added in. Hopefully it shows my love for both hobbies. Im not 100% happy with how the fish look but my Photoshop skills are not too good and replicating the lighting from the aquarium was not an option.

Each fish is on a separate layer so could move them around to suit. Will have a look tonight to see if me kissing the Angel fish works

Rotating it to the vertical is what really makes the shot IMO, very good.

I think this is great Paul!
I am amazed at the length some of you are prepared to go to to get a good image. Wish I had the patience.
