Glasgow Timelapse

Postby davidc » Wed 28 Aug 2013, 10:00

While on holiday I experimented with Magic Lantern - a custom firmware for certain Canon cameras that unlocks a colossal amount of features normally unavailable.

The first night we were away we stayed in a city centre hotel in Glasgow. We were on the 9th floor and I thought it might be interesting to see what happened when we went out to dinner so I installed the new firmware, stuck my extended battery pack on the camera and set it to take a shot every 5 secs. Over 2000 frames taken in about 4.5hrs to produce a couple of minutes of footage.

I'm actually visible on frame 641, briefly, from the back seat of the cab we took to dinner :)

For me, it really got interesting seeing the gradual changes that took place once it started to get dark.

Definitely clocked you in frame 641. ;)

That's my favourite part too. I'd hoped the rain would have been more interesting but it's just a dull fog really - the lights coming on and cars starting to make trails is where I like it :)
