SPA Biennial Exhibition Results

Postby Mike Farley » Wed 05 Mar 2014, 23:47

The results of the weekend's judging have just been posted on the SPA website. I believe that there is a mistake in the listing for awards as the photographer listed as being from Crawley Down is actually our own Bill Gray. Congratulations to Bill for his Judges Award in the colour prints section for his image "Autumn Colours". Bill rightly got maximum marks for this shot in the last print competition and it is a stunning photo.

The full results are here, with Bill correctly listed as a Croydon member this time. Further congratulations to Ros Conti for her acceptances in the Open PDI section with "Room with a View San Francisco from Inside Alcatraz" and "Sea Mist at Kimmeridge Bay".

This is not the first success which Ros Conti with her Alcatraz shot as it was one of the finalists in the CIOB Art of Building, Photographer of the Year Competition.

UPDATE

In addition to his "Autumn Colours" shot, Bill Gray had a second image, "Before the Dawn", selected for the exhibition in the Colour Prints category. My apologies to Bill for not including this in the original post.

Have spa given an indication as to when they will produce a slideshow/gallery of the winning images?

I am not aware that SPA has given any indication it will do this, but recent precedent for its other competitions suggests it will. If this is the intention, I do not know what the timescales will be.

You could always try asking this question using the feedback function on the SPA website. I am sure that they would be delighted to hear from you again. ;)

I will take that as an official endorsement then :D

I'd not meant to suggest they said they would, just assumed so - it's a pretty crappy exhibition that doesn't EXHIBIT it's entries!

Last time there was a catalogue of the top entries and I expect something similar this time.

I have been advised that the SPA will be publishing an electronic catalogue of the exhibition on a CD.

Exactly when I cannot say - presumably as soon as they can get the images together in a suitable format , which I understand will be PDF.

I note that after nearly two weeks, SPA has still not responded to the enquiry on the feedback section of its website.
