Day 1, a photoshoot with the lovely Angela. Expect to see more from the shoot as I get time to process. I chose this portrait shot because I thought a monochrome conversion would add to the impact.

Brilliant. I wake up to find that davidc has not only already taken, processed and posted his shot, he has written an article about it as well.
Well done.
Time to get my skates on and produce my own effort.

You've set the standard now. I shall expect to find a brand new photo and write-up each morning for the remainder of the challenge. And no excuses such as it is a weekday.

Sadly I don't have 4 more photoshoots lined up so maintaining any standard is a not guaranteed. Hadn't even arranged this one before Friday afternoon though!

Re: Day 1 - Five (Monochrome Shots) in Five (Days)
I have no great expectations of producing five good shots and even just getting one half way decent effort would be a result so far as I am concerned. What I am really relishing is the challenge of having to produce something, which is what I miss most from my 365 project. This way, I get that without the commitment of maintaining it for a full year.

Re: Day 1 - Five (Monochrome Shots) in Five (Days)
OK, here is my Day 1 contribution. LIke David I had planned a studio shoot. However, in my case the studio is my back room and my model is my wife who gave up 10 whole minutes to help me out!!
I was trying for a moody 1920s look but with limited time and a 1 year old about to wake from his sleep my time was very limited. I setup the strobe in advance and wrapped some black felt around the head to limit its spread. My wife wore her hat, scarf and coat and held a reflector with her right hand. The hat was angled further down to mask the eyes and just go with a smile instead. In post-processing I brought down the background to pure black and added some dodging and burning to give more contrast. Shot at 1/200s @ F11 ISO 400 with flash on 1/16 power from around 5 feet away.

Good stuff! Seeing the wooly scarf and hat did make me laugh, it was 32 degrees here today
Hadn't expected to see any other shots before bed, will see what the other results are in the morning!
