The Photography Show: 21 - 24 March 2015
Re: The Photography Show: 21 - 24 March 2015
Well, I've bought my ticket (for Sat 21 Mar) so I suppose I'll need to get my tickets to Birmingham
Mike, please add me to your list and remember that I have a Senior Railcard (and Freedom Pass although I don't think this is taken into consideration when buying tickets online).
Many thanks.

Hi David
You just made it as I expect to be buying the train tickets tomorrow morning. I had been planning to buy the tickets in one go so that we can all have seats together, which means that I will use the 25% discount rather than the Railcard fare. This does mean a slight difference of 65p each way (the fare with a Senior Railcard is £4-95), but does reduce the the cost overall for the party.
The list of definite attendees:

I had hoped that the discounted tickets would go on sale today as it is now less than 12 weeks to the show, but no joy so far. I'll try again tomorrow.

After a fair bit of hassle with the Virgin Trains website, the tickets have now been purchased and are in the form of an e-ticket, which I'll print off and hand to people at the club's next meeting on 7 January. I used The Photography Show discount, so the total cost per person is £11-20 which represents a 25% saving for most. Unfortunately it did not prove possible to to use the offer in conjunction with a Railcard and I could not get adjacent seats when I attempted separate bookings. Note that you will also need to have pre-purchased a ticket to the show in order to qualify for the travel discount, but that is the cheapest option anyway.
The train times are as indicated in my earlier post - viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1296&start=10#p6428.
While I am suggesting that we meet at East Croydon station, this is not mandatory and as everyone will have their own ticket they will be able to make their own way to Euston. All I ask is that nearer the time you let me know what you intend to do so that we do not wait for anyone unnecessarily.

Re: The Photography Show: 21 - 24 March 2015
The people from The Photography Show had a stand at the recent trade show held at The Societies Convention. Talking to the rep, he informed me that contrary to my expectation, at last year's show the first day on the Saturday had been less busy than either the Sunday or the Monday. The figures were 7,000 visitors on Saturday, 8,000 on the Sunday and a whopping 10,000 on the Monday. I didn't get the figures for the Tuesday, but that might be quieter as the exhibition closes an hour earlier as all the stands have to be taken down that evening. (You'd be surprised at just quickly even a large show such as that is dismantled.) If people were going on the Monday thinking that it would be less busy than at the weekend, they were certainly in for a surprise.

How can you tell the difference? Thousands (no matter how many) are still a lot of bodies to get around!!
