Michael Johnston at The Online Photographer used to be one of the net's pre-emminent bloggers for photography, but his output has slipped in recent months and this seems to be connected to recent changes he has made in his life, namely a new girlfriend and house. Ironically the latter was purchased (with assistance from some of his readers!) so that he would have better facilities to run TOP on which he depends for his livelihood through advertising, affiliate sales commission and occasional print offers. How he manages the site, which is free to access, is his choice of course and maybe it is just a temporary downturn. His latest article is typical of the sort of fluff he has been producing recently, but it does contain one nugget of information about shooting portraits - "Only my good side, please".
