Hi Rose,

I would love to come if it is either the 11th or 12th April, it will be a chance to try out my new lens from the show and get some practice before going to Namibia. The latter dates I will be in the US hopefully taking pictures of Washington and Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia.

The date we're aiming for at the moment is 12 April... See earlier post with details of where / when to meet.

Hi Rose

In your earlier post you've assumed everyone is at the reserve. What happens to those who have to rely on public transport?

I can get to Bat and Ball by train (although I've not yet checked the timetables and with the work at London Bridge affecting SouthEastern Trains it might be very difficult) and walk from there. Not my preferred choice.

Is there anyone out there who could offer me a lift? It would be appreciated!!

There is no reason why those who live locally should not meet at Shirley Methodist Church and share transport. Those not driving should contribute towards the driver's running costs. I appreciate that Rose will want to travel direct as coming to Croydon first would be a significant diversion.

That would suit me if there are others (with cars) prepared to meet at the Hall.

I don't think the reserve is ideally placed for public transport - especially on a Sunday. Not living in Croydon myself I'm not best placed to advise on how to get there without a car. Although I'm always happy to offer someone a lift, as Mike says, I'm afraid I wouldn't consider meeting in Croydon on this occasion as it's a 20 minute drive in the opposite direction.

I would suggest that (i) willing car sharers, ad (ii) those who would welcome a lift on Sunday, share their details here, or at the Club on Wednesday. At the moment the weather forecast for the weekend looks to be turning colder, but remaining dry. So we will assume it's on - unless they start forecasting rain nearer the time.

If anyone requires a lift, I will be departing from Shirley Methodist Church at 9:15 am.

Going through the responses, it looks as though the following people will be going:

  • Rose Atkinson
  • Ron Barker
  • David Beard
  • Graham Cluer
  • Mike Farley
  • Graham Land
  • Tina Nuthall
  • Tom Sherrin

In addition, Ros Conti is a possible but has not confirmed. If anyone will not be there, it would be helpful if you could provide an update to this thread so that we do not hang around unnecessarily for someone who is not going to show up.
