When it comes to bags, I find that I actually have a different type of bag depending on which system I am using.

  • Full frame rangefinder - Billingham Hadley Pro (http://www.billingham.co.uk/hadley-pro.html)

Mine is in beige, sorry that should have been Khaki ;), and I opted for the more durable FibreNyte material rather than traditional canvas. It has the advantage of my camera and lenses being readily accessible, and also accomodates the system's prime lenses well as they are very compact. Against that, being tall and thin I have to stack pairs of lenses on top of each other which makes it slightly awkward to get at the lower lens but it is manageable. A paper fits in readily, but not a magazine and there is no facility for carrying non photographic stuff such as a water bottle .

  • APS-C DSLR - Lowepro Computertrekker (http://www.wexphotographic.com/?/chris_ ... eview.html)

This bag has been discontinued so the link is to a review I found at Wex. It's great for carrying a reasonable amount of gear and has the laptop/paper/magazine pocket, but there are no options for much else.

  • m43 - Lowepro Fastpack 250

As previously discussed. This is my current walkaround bag.

Thanks to Rose for letting me look at her bag during the Sevenoaks Wildfowl Reserve outing. A Tamrac Evolution 8 is now on its way.

While you've been thinking about it, mine arrived on Sunday (19th - Amazon DO deliver on Sundays). I also looked at the Evolution 9 and might get one in the future.

As I mentioned above I got mine from Amazon where, depending on the colour you choose, there's a difference of over £30 between the black and the brown versions. Why?

Mine is coming from Amazon as well. Like you, I thought about the Evolution 9, but despite Tamrac's claims to the contrary it is slightly too large in one dimension to conform to airline hand luggage regulations. Ordinarily it probably would not be a problem, but that could change if there is heightened security and extra checks are in place. Whilst there is a bit more room, it did not seem to be sufficient to make it worth taking the risk.

The best price differential I could get was around £20 for the brown version compared to the black, but that was from an independent retailer which did not have the best feedback. I quite like black bags, anyway, so that's what I went for.

There's bags of room in the Evo 8, believe me ! ;) Any more and it would be too heavy to pick up !

I really like the way the straps stow away... Makes a much neater pack for putting in an overhead locker. I might do something about the length of the straps though... There is so much excess it's ridiculous.

In the meantime I'm also considering another day bag ;) I like the look of this Crumpler: http://www.crumpler.eu/index.cfm?seite= ... uctID=9187

That's what I am relying on. I am going to fly light, so no more than a dozen or so cameras and about twice that in lenses. ;)

I am not sure that I want a bag that splits in the middle like that as it becomes inconvenient when you need to get anything out as the pack always has to come off first. The Tamrac looks much more accessible and I am hoping it will prove to be a better design than my current day bag which only has one side pocket.
