Last year I visited 4 different locations in around Croydon on a Bluebell hunt. I found LittleHeath & Selsdon Woods to be the best ones.

Last year I visited 4 different locations in around Croydon on a Bluebell hunt. I found LittleHeath & Selsdon Woods to be the best ones.

Looking at Lightroom, I see that last year I visited Staffhurst and Selsdon Woods, but did not get much joy at either. In 2013, which seems to have been a bumper year for Bluebells despite the cold weather delaying the onset of spring, or possibly because of it, I ventured to Littleheath Wood but found it disappointing. My bluebell shots that year were taken at Staffhurst and Outwood. I have been given a recommendation by another photographer for Franks Wood near Dorking and will probably make a trip there during this year's season.

I ventured to Littleheath Wood but found it disappointing.

LittleHeath is tiny and there are not large carpets so I focused on individual heads, such as this:

However, at Selsdon they had recently cut back alot of saplings so had the advantage of lots of light plus larger uninterrupted carpets:

Now I just need to wake up for the 6am sunrise with the rays passing through some low lying mist in a bluebell wood

Earlier today someone recommended Kingswood to me for a good display.
