The first thing which annoy's me is that the import is placed into a "folder" named the date of the shoot; It doesn't seem possible to rename the folder to something more appropriate (in the case of the two events I sampled I can't change the name from "10 Aug 2005" to "001 BLUEBELL RAILWAY" and "26 Oct 2007" to "019 BLUEBELL RAILWAY"

It would seem that to import photos into folders the best option is to select Albums, name it and then drag the photographs you want into the album. The photographs are them available from "Photos" (listed in date order) and "Albums" which are also listed chronologically.

But I'll still stick with Lightroom.

Photos was never going to be a replacement for Aperture, rather a more generalised product addressing the majority of needs. Apple seems to be content to allow those with more specialist demands to go elsewhere, rather than continue to maintain Aperture. I have tried a number of different products, but the more I use Lightroom the more I have come to feel that it is the most complete solution for photographers who primarily shoot Raw.
