It's a good job that no one who reads this forum is likely to be buying the new Leica M Monochrom soon.

Leica has discovered a major flaw in regards to the RAW DNG files
Should read "Leica has discovered a major flaw in Apple Photos". :/
I'd recommend any Mac users avoid Apple Photos until it has been confirmed that it no longer deletes all files when one of them is (potentially) corrupt - just because the Leica DNG files highlights the bug doesn't mean it's limited to those, and restoring an entire photo library from backup is liable to be quite a time-consuming process.

I would go further and recommend that people avoid Macs, but that's just my prejudices showing.
It is odd that Leica is owning up to the fault, but Apple is supplying the fix.

Re: What the ........
A further thought. Why would anyone who knows enough about what they are doing to buy an expensive and specialised camera such as the M Monochrom want to process the resulting images in Photos? Especially when a copy of Lightroom, which works with the Monochrom's DNG files, is included in the purchase price.

Re: What the ........
There has been a further update. It turns out that Aperture is also affected but Apple will only be issuing an update for Photos, which should happen with the next release. There is no indication of where responsibility for the problem lies, but all Leica seems to be doing is to place a warning notice in the box for all future units it produces.

Re: What the ........
According to this overview of the new Monochrom by Jono Slack, the problem is due to a bug in the Apple CoreFoundation and is due to be fixed in the next release. See the note towards the end about DNG compatibility.
