It looks as though Flickr's new automated tagging algorithm in the 4.0 update might still be in beta if this report is anything to go by. Users are complaining of inappropriate tags being added to images. If you use Flickr, it would be worthwhile checking what has happened with your shots, especially if they include any where people are the subjects.

Interesting development - no way I'm going to check each and every image I have on Flickr, but I was curious to see how accurate some of the tagging was on some of mine. For example shots of the biomes at the Eden Project are tagged with water and waterfall... LOL Whilst a B&W shot of he Seed sculpture is correctly tagged as abstract, geometric, monochrome, curves. The engine they are using is clearly pretty intelligent and will only improve over time.

Re: Flickr Aoutomated Tagging
I've just looked at one of mine (see uploaded image). It's tagged 'Blue', 'Architecture', 'Building', 'Building Structure' and, perhaps a little surprising though accurate, 'Atrium'.
It might be worth looking at some of my other images to see how they've been tagged.
The image below is inside Bernard Weatheral House. I managed to get two shots before being told to desist by security. I rather like it although David Mendus only awarded it 7 & half points. Perhaps the title, 'Stairway to Heaven', put him off

Re: Flickr Aoutomated Tagging
Another interesting collection of tags. A lone Spitfire flying directly at you on a diagonal named 'Takka, takka, takka' and shown at the 2015 Exhibition.
The tags are 'Biggin Hill' [ok], 'England' [ok], 'United Kingdom' [ok], 'Aircraft' [ok], 'Vehicle' [umm], 'Outdoor' [ok], 'Minimalism' [perhaps], 'Animal' [??] and 'Insect' [???].
Oh, this going to be fun
Another - the Red Arrows escorting a Spitfire/Hurricane only has the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th from above . What about 'Aircraft'?

Re: Flickr Aoutomated Tagging
I have been looking at some of the tags for my own images and while some are accurate, a few have errors and most have only generic tags such as "outside" or "monochrome" where the algorithm has failed to determime the subject. The funniest one is for the cake at my son's recent wedding which was described as "potted plant".

Some of my Eastbourne airshow pics features a number of propellor driven aircraft, including a Mk1 Spitfire, tagged as "jet". Quite a few others which have a clearly recognisable plane are tagged merely as "outdoors", including most of my Red Arrows shots. Despite being in an album called Eastbourne Airshow, no location information is given. Looks like it is still early days, with Flickr relying at least partially on crowdsourcing to improve accuracy as people modify their tags.
Re: Flickr Aoutomated Tagging
I tag all of mine anyway so the changes I've seen are minimal. Only one or two where the added tag was understandably wrong from my last few images. Clever algorithm

Re: Flickr Aoutomated Tagging
All I can say is that Flickr's automated tagging seems to have great difficulty in identifying the subjects of many of my images, which might well be a comment in itself of course. Dissed by a computer. Who needs judges?
The link is to a shot of a woman holding a cygnet which Flickr has tagged merely "blackandwhite", "monochrome" and "outdoor". The first two labels would not be difficult to determine and the sky gives the clue to the last. Both the woman's and bird's heads are clearly visible, but have been ignored. Neither is this a one off as most of the phots in the series have been labelled similarly.

If you open the Camera Roll on your Flickr page it shows you your pics according to their tags...
