To be honest, I am not certain what training is given to judges, nor how standards are monitored and maintained. I know that SPA asks for feedback on its judges, although most clubs do not bother to make the effort, but not what happens to the information it does collect.

At one point a while back when I became sufficiently exasperated by some of the more stupid comments being made, I did ask to go on a judges' training course so I could find out exactly what they were being told which allowed them to make such pronouncements. My request was refused.
