Maybe AF will change to mean "all focus" instead
Seems like a brute force solution, maybe not useful in all areas such as fast moving subjects.

It's supposed to be based on 4K technology, which suggests that a capability of 25 or more images per second could handle most situations. Ironically, more problems might arise where slow shutters speeds are required, which would considerably increase the time required to shoot a complete set of images. It does seem to demonstrate that the hardware is becoming ever more capable and people are now looking for solutions which can harness all that power.

I am not sure if the GX8 is the camera being referred to or whether there is something else in the pipeline for next year, but it appears to have this multi-focus capability.
