A Legend Fails

Postby Mike Farley » Fri 17 Jul 2015, 08:42

The Fujifilm Experience Day I attended on Wednesday included a two hour session of street photography with Matt Hart, who has been working the streets* for 35 years. He has developed a candid style and earlier in the day had claimed that he had never once been caught taking a picture of someone. He demonstrated some of his techniques to the group and I can attest that he has a stealthy approach which is surprisngly effective. Part of the session included some time in Borough Market and we met up afterwards at the Southwark Road entrance to walk back to Amateur Photographer's offices. While we were waiting for everyone to assemble, there was an attractive young woman next to us standing astride a bicycle. Matt could not resist the shot and held the camera right in her face. Amazingly he got away with it. Then he did it again for a second shot, which was his undoing. She noticed alright and asked him if he was taking pictures of her. He said afterwards that it was the first time in 35 years that he had been challenged. And I was there to witness the event. :o
