Ming Thein has published an updated guide to the photographic potential of a number of cities around the world. Based on those places he mentions which I know, the summaries give a good idea of what to expect. What is apparent is just how well travelled Thein is and this article could be useful input for anyone who wishes to emulate him by visiting a few of the places themselves.

Re: Location, Location, Location
I'd actually seen this myself and though it was a good idea. The actual scores were a bit meaningless IMO with most averaging out at about 7-8... what does that MEAN? But the words are more useful and best of all the article was inspiring enough for me to do one of my own sometime, as part of a travel project I'm starting.
Some of the ones he's covered and been gushing about are entirely different to my own experience though, and did make me laugh. Malacca, in Malaysia, for instance... he paints a lovely picture but in my experience it was a total sh**hole

MT did say that there were only two points of interest there, so if you did not visit them or went to the market at the wrong time that could explain why you did not have the same experience?
