Ethiopian Travelogue

Postby Mike Farley » Wed 16 Dec 2015, 09:11

Michael Reichmann has published an article which is free to access about a recent trip to Ethiopia, which included visiting some very remote locations where in one instance a military escort was required for safety. Given that few will have the opportunity to visit this part of the world, it is definitely a worthwhile read although I would have liked to see some more photos. It sounds as though there will be some further articles about the trip, although probably this will only be made available to subscribers. As well as the travelogue, there is a commentary about equipment used and the precautions necessary to protect gear and images. Some of those on the trip were using Canon lenses on Sony bodies attached via Metabones adapters, which worked well, although it seems that this is only really necessary if there is no Sony native lens available. Where there are equivalents, optical performance seems to be similar. The new Leica SL with 24-90 zoom gets high praise as well, although like the remoter parts of Ethiopia the high price means that few will experience it.
