Interestingly this seems to come around the same time as Wolfram release their image identifier, though they appear not to be the same software.
If you think Flickr is giving obscure results, try giving that one a go - it probably seems worse because it's trying to be more precise (whereas Flickr uses multiple general tags), but still some of the things it comes back with are really huh!?
For example, getting "stealth fighter" for a Typhoon is only a bit off, but this Red Arrows shot is a "black-necked stilt" apparently. How...?

Maybe there is an element of Dr Johnson's dog here? We should not wonder that the software is not doing that well, but that it does it at all?
