Thom Hogan has givbes his perspective on why, contrary to his earlier exectations, mirrorless cameras have so far failed to achieve higher sales figures. Whilst it is the one area of the camera market where there is growth, it is at a much lower volumes compared to DSLR sales. His bottom line is that DSLRs are more capable and it is cheaper to purchase a DSLR system than for the equivalent mirrorless models. This is one topic which has much further to go before we know the eventual outcome, but given that manufacturing costs for mirrorless camera bodies are lower it seems to me that the question of whether CSCs will overtake DSLRs is more one of when than if.
