New Kodak Demolition

Postby Mike Farley » Mon 13 Jul 2015, 00:13

Building 53 at Kodak Park, Rochester, is due to be demolished explosive triggered implosion next Saturday. The building was formerly used to manufacture acetate film base, the demand for which is nothing like as great as it once was. If memory serves, Kodak stated a while back that it had ceased production and has sufficient stocks to last it several years. Several other buildings at the site were demolished using a similar method back in 2007.

It is ironic that one of the world's formerly wealthiest companies with an iconic brand which was responsible for the invention of digital imaging should have been brought so low because others exploited the discovery better.
