More Nikon Woes

Postby Mike Farley » Sat 28 May 2016, 08:27

I found this on Thom Hogan's blog about his experiences with the Nikon D500. Essentially he finds it to be an excellent camera, with no physical build quality issues becoming evident so far. Given Nikon's recent track record that is an achievement in itself, but there do appear to be some firmware glitches. The most likely explanation is that In order to hit the already once delayed ship date, Nikon did not undertake sufficient testing. It does seem odd that the first users found a number of problems within hours of receiving their cameras, which begs the question whether Nikon was aware of them. Assuming Nikon will address the defects with a firmware update at some point, at least the cameras will not have to be returned for repair on this occasion.
