Magnum Prints

If you have a favourite Magnum photographer, or there is an image in this year's selection which you particularly like, there is currently a short opportunity to acquire an original print. Most will be signed, except where the print has been supplied by a photographer's estate when it will be stamped. The downside is that the prints are supplied from the US and there is a hefty shipping rate of $26.51 which has to be added to the purchase price. The prints will also attract import duty and/or VAT, which will most likely be charged when it reaches the UK if my experience of a few years ago is anything to go by. Quite why a print should be treated differently to a book or a periodical which has the same image and is tax exempt is a mystery to me. I would guess that the total cost would be in the region of £110, which might well have a bearing on your decision.

Whatever, it is fun to look at the pictures and read their descriptions.
