Brands Hatch tips?

Postby Paul Heester » Tue 23 Jul 2013, 18:09

Im planning on visting Brands Hatch this Sunday and would like to know if any members have been and can give me any tips? I will be taking a 17-85, 75-300 plus a 10-20 lens so should cover all possible focal lengths. However, Im looking for any tips on where to stand, tips on panning etc.

Thanks!

I'd heard chicanes or tight corners are good, the cars are slower for the bend but also turning to give the sense of motion. Good luck ;)

When Glyn Bareham gave us his talk earlier this year, he showed a number of pictures from Brands Hatch and reckoned that it is possible to get good shots without having to have too powerful a lens. He said that 200 was the longest needed, so you should be OK with what you are taking. He did arrange an outing to Brands Hatch at the end of May when he was offering to show the best spots for photos, but unfortunately I could not make it. However, Dave's advice is very similar to what Glyn was saying.

Thanks chaps. Looks like the inside corner of Druids is a good option. Also these minor meeting often allow people into the paddock so should get some good candids as well. They are using the full GP course this weekend so there should be lots of places to choose from.

How do you go about getting tickets, out of interest?

Its for Formula 4 - so not F1 or BTCC - meaning it should be quieter so will just be heading there on the morning and getting a ticket at the gate. Fingers crossed :D

There is some info on this very forum which might help, dating from Glyn Bareham's Brands Hatch outing at the end of May.
